Games have many interfaces such as the HUD and GUI, User interface innovations first appeared in academic and research work but the first commercial versions appeared in games. If the game is using real life examples for interfaces such as doors for entry then they must also use it as an exit since players would expect to start and exit through a similar manner.
Games should always have something for the user to interact with or a task to do otherwise they users attention my stray to something else.
